Play in Camping Sites Instead of the Road
Campgrounds usually have several roads in and around the camping area. This is so campers can get to and from their campsites with their vehicles. Some parents allow their kids to play in these roads, but that is the wrong thing to do! Roads are never to be used as playgrounds. Children often do not look out for vehicles and frequently hold up traffic when playing in the road. Some children have a hard time deciding what they should do or where they should go when a vehicle comes up behind them. This often causes frustration for drivers, but more important, it can endanger the children.

Deciding on a family road trip can be a daunting challenge, not to mention an exercise in patience. However if you prepare ahead of time, the trip can be one of the most memorable experiences of your family’s life.
Here are some quick and easy tips for making your family road trip a fun and safe one.
First, prepare a checklist of items you will need. This will include first aid kit, food, snacks, drinks, and lots of toys, coloring books, paper and crayons, a portable DVD player so your kids can watch their favorite movies; and a cooler. A good idea is to ask the kids what games they would like to take, within limits of course.
Ensure that the snacks are healthy in nature. Too many sugar snacks can have the kids bouncing off the car seats. Remember, this is a relaxing family vacation and you want to avoid the kids getting bored or repeatedly asking you when you are going to arrive.
Check online to print out games for the road that you and the kids can play along the way. There are an assortment of puzzles and riddles as well.

If you are planning a trip to Europe in the summer , especially to Austria, you can’t pass the Austrian lakes. The beautiful lakeside resort Obertraun offers the best of two worlds: a nice waterfront lido and breathtaking mountains right next to them. You can relax and go for a refreshing swim or take the next cable car to “climb” one of the mountains.
We ended up booking rooms at the “Haus am See”, meaning house at the lake, which is exactly what it is. The best location on the whole Hallstätter lake, if you want to take my word for it, because it’s the sunny side of the lake. This is important because the lake is surrounded and embedded by rather steep mountains and the sun goes down early.
It’s a family run hotel and restaurant right by the lake with very reasonable prices and ideal for families travelling on a budget. Their service is outstanding and I must mention sweet Isabelle who is the nicest waitress you’ll ever meet!

Alaska… the 49th state and fondly known as the Land of the Midnight Sun and The Last Frontier.
Most people believe that Alaska, a name which comes from an Aleut word meaning “land that’s not an island” is simply tundra in the middle of nowhere because of it’s distance from the lower 48 states and because most of the stories you hear about it are usually related to the cold and snow and so-called vast, desolate, open spaces. But you thought wrong.
Alaska – the largest state (by land mass) is also one of the least populated – is a land that combines the beautiful snowy scenery of the Alps with the challenge of an adventure trip to the Congo.
