You’ve heard it before. People walking, especially folks who got lost and try to keep their bearings, have a strong tendency to walk in circles, thus finally arriving at the very same place they started from.
This is because we are either right handed or left handed, and that goes for our legs, as well. Right “legged” people make bigger steps whenever the right leg is touching ground, while the weaker left legs makes for smaller ones.
This inavitably leads to walking in big circles.
What you can do is add some extra weight to your right hand side, a stone will do, to compensate and make your strong leg a bit weaker. If you carry a backpack, try holding it in your hand.
Tests have shown this will really work and the extra weight is sure worth it, because it will let you keep a straight direction.

Camping locations seem to be mushrooming across America over the last two years – particularly since fitness experts and New Age philosophers have been emphasizing that one should spend time with Nature. Our lives are so fast-paced spent in air-conditioned buildings that taking off on a holiday to sleep in another air-conditioned hotel room doesn’t do much for a rejuvenation of the spirit or body. Camping, therefore, makes an ideal holiday choice. You can find hundreds of camping locations depending on cost, activities etc.

Whether traveling alone, with a group of friends or family, a campground or camping site/location is easy to find from directory listings but safety should be your top priority. Look for camping locations near your home particularly if you are going on a camping holiday for the first time. If you call up a club offering camping holidays, ask them about what security features they provide you.

When it comes to cost, you will have to juggle some options. Usually, you need to pay an admission fee and a camping fee but the overall price also depends on if outdoor activities will be organized at the campsite or not.

If a campsite has been specially geared up for hosting families there will be options for hobby classes, fun activities with children and more. Some camping locations are near lakes and rivers so there are options for swimming, boating etc. Several camping locations fall on hiking and cycling trails so you can also consider going in for a cycling/hiking vacation while taking a break mid-way for camping out instead of spending.

You can also save on costs by borrowing camping gear like tents, flashlights, outdoor cooking accessories etc instead of buying your own stuff. There are options for these items available on rent at campsites itself.

A lot of information on all the popular camping locations in America is available on the Internet. You can check these out and also consider whether you want to choose your own site at a camping site or let one be assigned to you.

Admittedly, I own much too many adventure gear. I grew up with five older siblings so glaringly some of their past-times rubbed off on me. I think you could label me a gear junkie. I’ve got everything from military backpacks to GPS watches.

Fortunately , my husband is a tech geek so he completely understands where my mind is at when talking of gear.

I know there are plenty of folk out there who like collecting journey gear because this sort of gear just seems so plain cool. Nevertheless I actually use the gear I am getting. Every one of them.

I’ve been to the Amazon with them. I have got lost in Borneo with them. And I have even been attacked by a herd of Asian wild elephants while on an expedition to help find and document a crashed English world war 2 plane in the jungles of Malaysia.

Granted, Asian elephants are far smaller than African elephants but they are just as threatening.

One thing I have been taught after all these years going off the beaten track is that you should pack reasonably for the occasion. Do not simply grab the biggest backpack you’ll find and head off on your journey.

It’s critical to plan your journey properly so you do not find yourself or your team carrying unrestrained loads in your military backpacks all around the place for 2 or 3 weeks.

Military backpacks or tactical gear backpacks are ultra sturdy and come with lots of features like grommets to help draining, varied compartment types to house anything from hydration systems to emergency first aid kits and PALS Webbing so you can attach other stuff to it.

Please bear in mind that tactical gear backpacks aren’t the lightest back-packs to lug around. If you’re of a slight build, a huge backpack can slow you down on an expedition, simply make you go off balance and may even result in injury.

So always pick your gear smartly. Occasionally, you may find it more advantageous to carry a chest rig, waist pouch and a smaller back pack instead of lugging about one gigantic back pack. This strategy may turn out to be handy during emergency scenarios which might need you to dump you back pack. If all your stuff is in one back pack, dumping it’ll mean losing everything.

The wiser thing to do is to put necessary and frequently used items like two small cans of food, flash-lamp, batteries and basic survival apparatus in your waist pouch and chest rig. Place your least used items like spare attire and blanket in your backpack.

In summary,

If you are of slight build, get a smaller backpack and use it with pouches and chest rigs to redistribute the weight

You know your military backpack is too heavy if you can easily go off balance

Before buying a tactical backpack, consider the type of journey you will be using it for

Many people will travel at least once. You can gain a lot by learning about travel, even if you are not well traveled or have been traveling for years. In the following article, you are going to be given important advice about travel that you may need to use one day.

Gran Canaria consists of an array of microclimates, with some areas receiving more rain than others. Likewise, some areas enjoy more sunlight, with the southwest being the driest and practically semi-desert. The northern mountains tend to attract the greatest rainfall and cloudy weather, and sometimes you can even see the tops capped with snow. More rain has its advantages though, as the northern part of the island is greener and more fertile. Rainfall on the island primarily occurs through the winter weeks, and it’s rare to have any rainfall between May and August.

The main reason tourists come to the island is the Gran Canaria Weather. Even if the summer months, and especially August and September, is the warmest season, the climate during the winter is still very pleasant. During the night, even in January, the temperature rarely falls to less than 10°C near the coast. If you choose to travel to Gran Canaria in December/January, you should expect some rainy days. However, the rain showers never last long, and the sun usually shows up behind the skies shortly after.

Switch drivers often when traveling by car. If you drive until you are too tired to continue driving, the driver that takes your place will be alone for the trip while you sleep. You should not drive until you reach the point of exhaustion. Try to switch drivers every two or three hours. This will prevent you from getting exhausted.

If visiting National Parks is in the cards for your vacation, consider purchasing an official National Park Pass. The passes can be purchased for $50 and are a great deal as they cover all national parks for one full year.

By reading online reviews, you can avoid potential problems with any resorts or hotels you may stay at. By looking for feedback from people who have used the same business, you can avoid booking a stay somewhere that is likely to leave you unhappy.

When packing your luggage, instead of folding your clothes, neatly roll them up. When you roll your clothing, you will save a lot of room in your suitcase. When you arrive, you can unroll the clothes and fold them before putting them in drawers. Utilizing this strategy will lower the amount of luggage you will need to take with you.

Overall, traveling is an activity most do at least once. That is why it is crucial to learn all you can about traveling so you are prepared for your next trip! Using the tips in this article, may just come in handy one day!

If you are a camper who always desires to learn or master the art of backpacking backpacks, then here are tips for you.

You can begin packing at the bottom of your pack. It is universally known that all backpacks have large openings on its top view and once you open them, you will see top-loading packs. Mostly all backpackers place his or her sleeping bag at the very bottom of the pack. What they don’t know is that this part can also be a place to put in items that you will not need until you make camp at night. Examples of these can be under wears that are used for sleepwear, pillowcases, foam less sleeping pad or any other roll up in a tiny shape. A flashlight is worthy to be positioned in an accessible spot where you can easily grab it.

Another thing to take note of is that you should keep your sleeping bags separated from that can give a different smell to it – like perfumes or alcohols. Do this to keep yourself safe from the attack of the bears in the wild since they are not able to distinguish the smell of the food to the aroma of a nonfood. These bears are unable to tell which ones are food judging from what they smell – be it meat or lotion.

The sleeping bag compartment is an extra safe hide in your pack and this can be found at the bottom of your pack. Some other campers like this compartment because it brings so much convenience for the camper. While the others are not pleased with it, because they don’t have access to their bags until the day ends. When buying a pack, you should also consider if you want to have them because it adds to the pack’s weight.

As a general rule of thumbs, the heftiest things should be placed on top of your sleeping bag and it must be near to your spine. Food stash which may be in a bear canister or a stuff stack are the usual items that go in this part. You might also want to put in this part, the water supply – hydration or reservoir bottles. Don’t forget about your cook kit and stove as those may also go there.

Your reservoir sleeves should be checked and maintained especially if you are carrying a hydration. The reservoir can be easily inserted if the pack is still empty. There are two things which you can do – one, insert it at home where the efficacy can be tested and two, if you want the coldest water available, you can carry the reservoir in a cooler and load it.

As you continue to read this content, you will soon realize what are the factors that you need to consider when choosing backpacking tents.

Two features are primarily thought of when you say backpacking tents. Doors and vestibules – they are considered to be the most common features that one may look for. When we talk about very light tents, the ones which are used in backpacking, comes with a single door at the head end. This set up can give a go but you cannot deny the fact that there are other available tents which offers 2 doors in 2 person tents. With these 2 doors, each camper can have a more private and more goodnight sleep, avoiding the other camper to wake up as one pleases to come and go out of the tent. For example, your camp mate would want to sleep earlier while you want to do stargazing and make a late entrance after doing so.
Vestibules are expandable sections of a tent’s rain-fly. They make a sheltered dry zone outside your tent for a place to keep your footwear and other gears dry.
Usually, each tent could offer one vestibule as they depend on the size and the tent model. If you want to buy a tent which offers a higher vestibule size, try to look up the tent’s specifications so that you will know if it has a big area or a small one.
Do inquire if it is easy to put in place or setup. Most of the time, tents offer freestanding designs without the use of stakes. With this design, you can set it up with so much ease. When the need for a relocation arises, you don’t need to dismantle it and reassemble it on that specific place you want to transfer, all you need is to lift them by their poles and carry them to a new spot.

Generally, if your tent comes with ore pole sections then it may be more complex to set it up. For the second time that you will pitch it up, you will no longer experience the hassle like the first time you did because it will just come instinctively to you like a reflex action.

Practice setting it up at home so that you will master the art of setting it up. Because you are not pressured like when somebody is waiting for you to finish setting it up on the site, practice it at home and you will find it easier.
So there you have it, your complete guideline in choosing hiking tents that suits you most. Never forget to bring your checklist so that you won’t miss out on a thing.

Camping tents for sale are found in every corner of the market, if only you just spend time in choosing and identifying what you really need. By researching, you are helping yourself in deciding which one you will buy because you will know what will it benefit you. To get yourself started, here are notes to guide you in buying a tent.
First of all, ask yourself what type of tent do you need. You can start by knowing the different sizes and designs are available in a tent but this is a difficult task because you will have to know which camping you will most likely be in to. The follow up question must be, how many people will the tent accommodate? If you want a tent that can be only used by a single person, then you are looking for a 1.25 kg tent. However, you are already closing your doors to other better tent models which may weigh greater. Greater choices can enter once you answer that this tent you are looking for will be shared by a more than two people.

Your first decisions when buying a tent rests on many ideas such as its capacity, its size and weight, should it be lightweight or ultra weight? What king of weather will there be in your site? Seasons may be a good indicator as to what kind of tent will you look for. Will you need a lot of space in the tent? Or just enough space to cater for your camping needs such as porches, camping stove, and table for eating? How tall do you want the tent to be? Does it need to be head height or a compact lightweight tent would be fine? Which do you really need? Not just want, but need.

Ask if it will be still useful for the next few years and in the near feature.
Usually, a lower weight tent will have an available space for two campers. On the other hand, the upper-end models of tents will give three to four people in comfortable dispositions.

If, however, you usually go backpacking then every grams that will contribute to the weight will matter and in this case, you will really need an ultra light tent. If you plan to bring it in the car and just bring it out when sleeping, then you won’t mostly have problems with the weight. A 6 person tent would be a better choice to buy especially when you are bringing the tent in the car.
