Five really useful features, four mediocre, one fail. I’m not sure why this handy little device doesn’t get better reviews. I’ve used it, and tested it, and was pleasantly surprised by most of the functionality.1) Compass. The compass worked fine. It’s true, and doesn’t stick. It’s easy to read top down, and can even be read from the end when it’s closed. Is it a $15 Suunto A-10? No, but it’s a lot better than a cheapie button compass2) Thermometer, Easy to read, externally available, appears to be accurate, within a couple of degrees. It’s in centigrade, so that may give some people heartburn3) Hygrometer. Easy to read, but I’m not sure how accurate it is. Don’t know, don’t care. Not a lot of use for this.4) Mirror. It’s Ok. The image is not bad. I wish it wasn’t broken up with the cutouts for the thermometer and hygrometer on the other side. In an emergency, I can see my face, and use it as a reflector. Decent sized at almost 2 1/2″ tall, by 1 3/8″ wide.5) Bubble…

Great gadget to throw in BOB All 10 functions work. The flint and the flint blade is easy to take out using the tappet provided inside the hinge. However, the whistle is REALLY difficult to remove. Once removed, the whistle does indeed work.I expected it to be larger, but the actual size is great if you are limited to space in your bag. I only really bought this for the compass, flint, and mirror. But the magnify glass, thermometer, and flashlight are just as valuable features. The hygrometer is cool, but I don’t think it would be very useful for me. The level, for my uses, is kind of pointless to have.I heard some people complaining about how the thermometer is in Celsius… For those that don’t know, 20 C° is room temperature, 0 C° is freezing, and 100 C° is boiling. If you want to know the temperature in Fahrenheit, but only have Celsius, take the measurement in C° and double it and add 30 — [ 20C° x 2 + 30 = 70F° ] — This conversion is a ROUGH conversion. So your answer will be…
